20mm Promat Monolux 800 Fire Protection Board
20mm Promat Monolux 800 Fire Protection Board is a calcium silicate board, designed to maintain stable strength and rigidity when exposed to operating temperatures up to 800C and especially applicable in more arduous conditions where additional strength is required. No mineral fibres or asbestos are used in the manufacturing process, so the material is easily machined to close tolerances. The material is most commonly used in platen presses and driers. Its low thermal conductivity and low shrinkage at extreme temperatures makes it suitable for industrial applications, whereas if increased durability is required, the surface can be adequately treated.
- Easy to handle, install and decorate;
- Strong and durable;
- Applicable in high temperatures environments;
- Extremely low shrinkage;
- Provides low thermal conductivity;
- Alkalis and solvents resistant;
- Applicable in industrial settings.
Promat Monolux 800 Fire Protection Board is applicable in various fire resisting constructions, including platen press insulation, structural thermal breaks, boiler and flue gas baffles, heat shielding and load bearing pipe supports.
Monolux 800 insulation boards should be properly dried and conditioned, before installed at elevated temperatures environment. It should be stored horizontally in dry conditions or alternatively vertical only if the edges are properly protected.
The material is fixed to a non-combustible background, such as steel stud or masonry framework at 300mm fixing centres. If the material is installed directly into brick or block, it is recommended that metal fixings and plugs are used. It should be pre-drilled with slightly oversized holes (in accordance with the screw dimensions), whereas the screws should not be fixed too tightly, so that some thermal movement is enabled. For additional strength, suitable metallic inserts can be used, otherwise standard PK screws are sufficient. Depending on the thickness, it is recommended that a minimal gap of 50 mm between the material and appliance is left. If additional thickness of 50mm is required, it can be achieved by gluing the boards together via adequate high quality adhesives.
Plastering includes adding a sealing coat of universal primer and once it is dry, another layer of bonding coat is applied and covered with a primer while still wet and tacky. When adding tiling, the boards should be properly sealed on all sides with a PVA sealant or diluted tile adhesive. When adding decorative coatings, these should be in accordance with the applicable regulations in the terms of fire resistance and surface spread of flame rate.
