GypLyner IWL
GypLyner IWL is an independent internal wall lining system compatible to significant number of external wall constructions such as industrial and rainscreen claddings, curtain walling, brickworks, making it applicable to any type of building, especially buildings reinforced with structural steel since providing adequate fire resistance. It is used on all types on existing or new-build masonry walls to improve acoustic and thermal insulation of the construction. It can be installed horizontally in order of forming a corridor ceiling and a void for conducting services. It offers substantial thermal insulation values of 0.33 - 0.17 W/m²K, great acoustic insulation of 59 - 61 Rw dB for airborne sound and fire resistance of 30 to 90 minutes.
Certain consideration should be taken into account upon installation, including:
- service positions should be planned at the frame erection stage, while all lining system parts must be independent of the external walling;
- since being non-load bearing, the system should not be used for providing lateral restraint to external wall constructions;
- acoustic performance of the system can be improved with using GypLyner IWL single board or double layer lining;
- depending on the structure, installing cavity barriers may be necessary, but it can be added every 20 m if the cavity is made from non-combustible materials on each side;
- when installing a new screeded or concrete floor, installing a damp-proof membrane should be taken into account;
- before installing dry lining, certain measure should be considered (such as tanking, new damp course etc) wherever there is a damp or water penetration issue present, especially in refurbishment projects;
- in order of improving thermal performance and reducing heat loss, junctions must be properly sealed and the background and abutting elements well fitted;
- vertical and horizontal services can be installed behind the lining system, surface mounted services should be installed against and fixed through the lining and electrical services should be installed in accordance with BS 7671;
- lightweight fixtures can be installed directly to the partitions while medium ones may require additional fixing channels.
