GypWall QUIET
GypWall QUIET is a system primarily used as a separating structure between residential dwellings, like apartments and flats, and due to its substantial acoustic performance and achieved values of 61 - 64 (Rw dB) and 60-120 minutes of fire resistance, it allows for the residential unit to be in compliance with the applicable Building Regulation Approved Document E. It is a lightweight separating wall that satisfies BS 5234 requirements and can be made to suit even industrial and commercial structures requirements. It is designed to accommodate services between the twin stud frameworks and steel and concrete columns in the cavity.
Certain consideration should be taken into account upon installation, including:
- heavy fixtures and service positions should be planned at the frame erection stage, while in order of achieving required acoustic and fire performance, all penetrations will have to be adequately stopped;
- in case the room layout includes structural steelwork, there might be a slight loss of acoustic performance through the steelwork;
- rock wool should be placed within the cavity in order of providing adequate flame and some closure;
- when accommodating services, every penetration should be carefully planned and positioned in order of avoiding such penetrations to affect the system’s fire resistance and acoustic performance; electrical services should be installed in accordance with BS 7671, whereas high performance socket box detail can be added for better sound performance;
- floor and ceiling channels must be tightly fixed whereas two rows of staggered fixings are required for channels above 94mm;
- deflection heads may be required for the supporting floors and underside of the roof structures;
- lightweight fixtures can be installed directly to the partitions while medium ones may require additional fixing channels.
