Cavity Barriers and Air Path Sealers

Isocheck Expandastrip is made from a permanently elastic open cell Polyurethane foam, which is impregnated with chemically stabilised acrylic and backed with a self adhesive scrim tape. The Expandastrip is used for sealing around doors and window frames, or between corrugated roofing panels, roof structures and roof lights ventilation and air conditioning ductwork. Once applied it will expand to fill the joint, sealing any irregularities or imperfections.  At its maximum expansion it will provide a light air baffle. Expandastrip can provide a weather tight seal of construction joints against wind and driving rain. These strips are supplied in many different sizes to match the normal joints you find in buildings.

As you see in the above image, there are voids above the ceiling and below floor, where the partition walls are situated. Sound travels through these voids, and would move from one room to another. Isocheck Isowave Cavity Barrier 33 is an acoustic plasterboard used for reducing such excessive flanking sound transmission through underfloor and above ceiling cavities though the voids beneath and above the partition. It consists of a single or double layer of 10mm semi-rigid acoustic foam bonded to 12.5mm high density, square edged fibre-reinforced gypsum board. The board can be cut to size and fixed. Any gaps can be sealed with an acoustic sealant.
