EWI-090 Monocouche Scratch Render - 25kg bag - - 18 Colours
EWI-090 Monocouche Scratch Render is a one coat, polymer modified dry mix render, great for render-only system, and only requires the addition of water prior to application. EWI-090 is through-coloured and applied in two passes, where the fibreglass mesh is embedded within the first pass to provide extra strength. The second pass needs to be applied before the first layer has gone off to allow the chemical bonds to form. It can also be sprayed. EWI-090 Monocouche Scratch Render provides an aesthetically pleasing finish and is available 18 different colours.
The Monocouche Scratch Render is intended for use as external decorative finish on top of new build brick and block work, refurbishment projects. It is unsuitable for substrates with a poor key, flat and smooth concrete, painted surfaces, engineering brick, render carrier board and gypsum plaster.
- Ease of Application,
- Can be used on brickwork and blockwork new build and reburbishments,
- Through-colour,
- Polymer modified, dry-mix render,
- Water-resistant,
- Available in 18 colours,
- a minimum life expectancy of 10 years.
- The substrate must be stable, even and clean.
- Remove all unstable (dull sounding) plaster from the substrate.
- All uneven surfaces should be levelled out using the EWI-260 Levelling Mortar.
- Pour the dry mix gradually into a container with 5.5 litres of water.
- Mix manually or using a low-speed mixer to produce a uniform, smooth texture. Leave the mixture for five minutes and then mix again.
- Do not mix the already hardened product with fresh material.
- Do not over trowel.
- Apply to an even, clean substrate using a spray machine or a trowel in two passes. The total thickness should be < 19mm (first pass of 5-7mm and a second pass of 12-14mm).
- If you are also embedding the fibreglass mesh into the render, you can choose to do this on the first pass.
- You can use EWI-225 Premium Adhesive to embed a layer of flexible fibreglass mesh. This layer should be less than 6mm
- The second pass should be applied before the first has fully set so as to allow the two layers to bond together.
- Once the second pass of render has set but not fully hardened, the surface should be lightly scraped in a circular motion using render scratch float and remove between 2-3mm of render to achieve the desired finish.
- Depending on the weather conditions, the Monocouche Scratch Render should take 28 days to reach optimal strength.
- Do not apply in rain or humid conditions, or if there is a chance of rain or frost might happen within 24 hours.
- Do not apply in cold weather or if the materials or the substrate are frozen or if the temperature is 5 degrees or below and also if the temperature is 30 degrees or higher, in full sun, where there is a risk of flash dehydration where curing is impossible and fast drying will occur.
