Erfurt MAV Wallrock Dampstop Thermic - High-performance Damp-proofing Lining Paper- 675mm x 7.5m roll
Erfurt MAV Wallrock Dampstop Thermic utilises a very tough, strong, rot proof and salt resistant polypropylene backing bonded to a water resistant metallic barrier, providing a long service life even in very challenging conditions. It is designed to combat the appearance of unsightly penetrating damp stains by forming an effective damp barrier. Wallrock Dampstop Thermic is supplied in extra wide rolls to minimise the number of seams making it easier to contain the damp with less joints. Leaving the Wallrock Dampstop Thermic surface exposed will also improve the reflection of heat into rooms, making the product especially useful in improving energy efficiency in the home when used behind radiators and appliances. The rot proof backing can be applied directly to the wall effectively blocking off the appearance of unsightly penetrating damp and staining. The metallic surface can be overhung with other thermally efficient wall coverings,
CHARACTERISTICS
- A very tough, strong, rot proof and salt resistant polypropylene backing
- Combats penetrating damp
- Excellent strength and durability
- Tough and durable
- Easy to use
INSTALLATION
- Remove loose or flaky material from the wall surface.
- Eliminate any projections that may damage the Wallrock Dampstop Thermic.
- Fill any holes with a suitable filler.
- If the surface is excessively porous or absorbent, prime it:
- Dilute Wallrock Dampstop Adhesive 1:1 with water to create a primer.
- Allow the primer to dry thoroughly.
- Brush the adhesive onto the wall, covering a slightly wider area than the Wallrock Dampstop Thermic strip:
- Typically, use 160-250ml per square metre, depending on wall condition.
- Ensure the adhesive is applied evenly.
- Apply Wallrock Dampstop Thermic directly to the pasted surface, with the black side facing the wall.
- Use a wallpaper hanging brush to carefully remove any air bubbles:
- Brush from the centre outwards.
- Ensure there are no wrinkles or air pockets, as they will not dissipate during drying.
- When applying multiple lengths, use butted joints:
- Apply Wallrock Dampstop Thermic Adhesive liberally and evenly at the butt joint to minimise damp tracking through seams.
- This technique is suitable for small localised damp issues.
- For maximum damp resistance, apply two layers of Wallrock Dampstop Thermic:
- Ensure seams are offset with the layer beneath.
- Alternatively, achieve extra resistance with a single layer, overlapping seams by a minimum of 20mm:
- Note that contours of the overlap may remain visible after painting or wallpapering.
- Allow the installation to dry thoroughly:
- 48 hours may be sufficient, but longer may be required due to the foil surface slowing the drying process.
- Once dry, check the treated area to ensure Wallrock Dampstop Thermic is fully bonded.
- The Wallrock Dampstop Thermic foil surface can be:
- Painted (priming may be necessary; consult the paint manufacturer).
- Overhung with lining paper, insulating wallpaper, or decorative wallpaper.
