100mm Claylite is a low density expanded polystyrene compressible-fill material which can be used to reduce the pressure exerted on reinforced concrete ground beams or on the vertical face of concrete foundations, caused by the expansions of clay soils (clay heave) during the life of the structure. Claylite is used regularly on a wide range of constructions for all types of buildings and has rapidly been accepted as the best solution to movement caused by clay heave, shrinkage or soil movement.
APPLICATION
- on reinforced concrete ground beams
- on vertical face of concrete foundations
to reduce the pressure exerted on the concrete by expansion of clay soils (clay heave) during the life of the structure. It protectsfoundations of new buildings from clay heave, shrinkage or soil movement in
trench systems up to 2.5m deep. This depth can be increased by staggered concrete pours.
CHARACTERISTICS
- Green coloured low density expanded polystyrene boards
- Inert, non toxic material
- Free from CFC gases
- Rot- proof
- Water resistant
- Dimensionally stable under varying conditions of temperature and humidity
- Reduction in pressure transmitted when subjected to 50% compression.
CERTIFICATION
Claylite has been assessed by the British Board of Agrment according to Regulation A2, and found to reduce the effects of the expansion of clay soils which might impair the stability of a building. It has been approved for use under ground beams and against the sides of deep-trench fill foundations; Certificate number 92/2797.
