EcoLiner Characteristics and Benefits

EcoTherm EcoLiner is multifunctional insulation plasterboard made from rigid PIR insulation and gypsum plasterboard with ivory face and tapered edge, providing thermal insulation and a smooth plasterboard finish in one product. This means that once installed, you will not have to worry about additional drylining or plastering but you can freely choose a finish such as skim coat plaster. However, its multifunctionality does not end there, since the board can be successfully used for both internal walls and pitched/cold flat roof insulation. Finally, to top it all, the boards can be installed using either dot and dab or mechanical fixing installation method. This all means that they can be successfully installed in different surroundings and settings and easily adjusted to your property characteristics. EcoLiner plasterboards are available in a number of different thicknesses and provide great thermal insulation, assisting you in achieving values prescribed by applicable regulation. It is worth the mention that this product is among the products recommended by the Energy Saving Trust. The boards can also be installed in damp areas (bathrooms, kitchens etc.) since they have an integrated vapour control layer, which can be of particular importance when installing insulation as roof or room in the roof applications.

UK Insulated Plasterboards

Another important characteristic refers to environmental benefits of the boards, since these contain no harmful blowing agents, and has 0 ODP and GWP less than 5, placing them among products that achieve summary A rating in accordance with BRE Global Green Guide specification.

EcoLiner Thermal Laminates Installation

Another important benefit of EcoTherm EcoLiner plasterboards is the fact that they are very easy to install and are practically maintenance-free, since if properly installed, with the given instructions, the boards can have indefinite lifetime.

Since the boards can be installed by applying both dot and dab installation method and via mechanical fixing, the installation shall depend on the chosen method. If you have opted for dot and dab installation, the first important thing is to use appropriate gypsum adhesive, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. In order of tightly plumbing the boards onto the wall and providing a continuous layer of insulation, the adhesive needs to be properly added to both wall surface and around openings (such as window openings or electrical sockets). The adhesive should be applied around openings in at least 50mm wide ribbons and onto the wall in three vertical rows and as continuous beads at top and bottom. Once the boards are aligned and the adhesive has had time to set, additional support should be installed that is nailable plugs that are installed with at least 25mm depth and at least two per board.

Solid Wall Insulation

If EcoTherm EcoLiner boards are installed onto a block or solid wall, through timber battens or timber frame on the inside, with either metal or timber framing system. Here, 50mm wide and 25mm deep battens are installed at ceiling and above the floor level, at 600mm centres. The boards are installed with appropriate drywall screws which should penetrate the timber 25mm deep, at least 10mm from the edge, at 150mm centres. Finally, screw heads are driven below the surface. Please note that when the boards are installed under the rafters, insulated plasterboards should be supported on all four edges and at right angles to the rafters, why the noggins must be used across the rafters.
